Sujoy Ghosh to join hands with Shahid Kapoor after backing out of Shah Rukh Khan’s King? Actor’s team REACTS

Badla and Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh was supposed to direct Shah Rukh Khan starrer King with his daughter Suhana Khan. However, the project is now taken over by Pathaan director Siddharth Anand. After Sujoy Ghosh backs out from King, reports are rife that he has planned to revive his thriller with Shahid Kapoor. The actor’s team has now reacted to the claims.

Sujoy Ghosh and Shahid Kapoor to collaborate?

As per a report in Mid-Day, Sujoy Ghosh and Shahid Kapoor had planned to collaborate on a movie in 2021, however, the project did not materialize due to scheduling conflicts. Now, the actor-director duo has reportedly resumed discussions about the film. The report quotes a source as saying, “Shahid was interested in the script earlier, but the timing wasn’t right. Now, both Sujoy and he are making it a priority to align their schedules and bring it to life.” While details of the plot remain undisclosed, the genre is reported to be a thriller. If things fall into place, this will mark the first collaboration between the actor and director. However, Hindustan Times reported that Shahid’s team has denied the reports about him being in talks with Sujoy for any such film.

Shahid’s upcoming movies

On the other hand, Shahid Kapoor is currently looking forward to the release of Rosshan Andrrews’ Deva alongside Pooja Hegde. The film is scheduled to hit the big screen on January 31, 2025. In addition to this, Shahid also has Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara alongside Triptii Dimri. Recent reports are also rife that the actor has signed Dinesh Vijan’s Cocktail 2 with Rashmika Mandanna as leading lady.

Talking about King, the film also stars Abhay Verma and Abhishek Bachchan. The film will go on floors in March 2025 and is reported to release in cinemas on the occasion of Eid in 2026, clashing with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War.
